The school is staffed according to Angus Education Authority staffing standards. The teaching staff consists of the Head Teacher, two full-time Teachers and 1 part-time Teacher. Learning and teaching is supported by an Additional Support Needs teacher for 1 day a week. In the Pre School class there is an Early Years Practitioner, and a Senior Early Years Practitioner supporting 1 morning a week.
The school has a very proactive and supportive Parent Council who organise various social and fund-raising events throughout the school year. We are also in the fortunate position of having parents who are willing to run our after school clubs. The pupils benefit from Basketball, Archery, Fun and Games and Football clubs at the end of the school day.
The ethos and culture of our school is very important to all.
Pupils, Parents and Staff all have a crucial role to play in improving our school.
Pupil Voice is heard through our VIP (Very Important People) groups, these are the Pupil Council, Eco Group, Health Group and Literacy Leaders. Each group is led by a member of staff and all pupils have the opportunity to work in one of these groups.
Parents are represented by the Parent Council, who work closely to support the school to improve the learning and teaching and also wider experiences for all pupils. Parents at Airlie school are very supportive of their children. This involves helping out at various school and Parent Council events and encouraging their children to achieve their best socially and academically, for example completing a high standard of homework and in the way pupils always act and behave in school.
Pupils at Airlie school have many opportunities to represent the school at local, authority and national events. These range from sporting events such as, Basketball, Hockey, Football and Cross-country running to a very successful Choir. The pupils also have opportunities to learn cello/ trumpet/ trombone/ guitar from Primary 4-7.
